Recipe : Blood oranges and pomegranates with orange flower water

dinners with friends. a blog.

The perfect dessert to brighten a grey winter night: fragrant blood oranges and slightly sour pomegranate seeds get an extra flavor boost from a drizzle of orange blossom water ...

ingredients.
6 blood oranges
1 pomegranate
drizzle of orange blossom water

Peel the blood oranges.
Tip: use a serrated nife, cut off top and bottom, place cut end on flat surface, then cut down along the orange's sides, taking off all white pith along the way.

If you have the patience (& a small dinner party), you may want to segment the blood oranges to show off the amazing shades of red and orange.

I prefer cutting the oranges into slices, making for a nice arrangement of "orange stars" on the plate.

Quarter a pomegranate and invert each piece over a large bowl of water. The seeds will sink to the ground, while the pith will float.

Drain water and scatter pomegranate seeds over the oranges.

Drizzle with some orange blossom water (just a dash!) and let sit to macerate.

Top with an orange liqueur whipped cream or some Greek yoghurt with toasted pistachios ...
